Monday Morning, Back at the Desk? Here are Some Healthy Tips When Sitting at a Computer

I have a balance ball for a work chair, I put the garbage can across the room, and I am constantly getting up for water. That’s how I keep moving through the work day. The effects of sitting for long periods of time (i.e. 40 hours a week for 30+ years) can be as severe as heart disease or cancer. Click on the picture above or here to see tips on improving your posture at work. Meanwhile, try to get up at least once an hour to get a movement going.

Happy Monday!

Kids may not be the only thing making you age.

I love soda. The combination of sweet and bubbly, it’s such a refreshing drink especially in the months of summer. However, there are always these studies coming out on the negative side effects soda has on your body. If you are a habitual soda drinker (and I know there are a lot of you out there, I was one) you may want to think twice about picking up that once a day soda if you want to obtain eternal youthfulness. My suggestion, just incorporate more water, and let soda become a treat.

Tips for a Healthy Lifestyle from Me to You

Here’s that word moderation again… keep that in mind as I list a few healthy tips:

1. Eat a colorful plate of foods.

2. Get at least a half hour of exercise in. (They say an hour of exercise is 4% of your day, so why not?)

3. Learn something new.

4. Breathe. Meditation for just 10 minutes a day could hep clear your mind, help you handle stress better and even help with the symptoms of medical conditions. Learn more here: http://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/meditation/in-depth/meditation/art-20045858

5. Smile.
